I’m glad President Obama called Jason Collins as a measure of support for coming out yesterday. That an active professional athlete felt comfortable enough doing so indicates just how far we’ve come as a country with respect to treating our gay brothers and sisters fairly.
I just wonder.
How come no acknowledgment for Chris Kyle who served (with the utmost distinction, I might add) his country? Did his family not deserve a phone call? How come he hasn’t once mentioned his name in a presser?
I didn’t use a “vs.” in the title of this post for a reason. I don’t think these matters are mutually exclusive. I think he should have acknowledged them both.
I’m sad my president doesn’t value what I do–in general. This is just one more example.
